Los Angeles +175 over Vegas
T-Mobile Arena – Las Vegas, NV
8:30 PM ET. OT included. The curtain rises on the Mitch Marner era in Vegas, and you can feel the sizzle. The Golden Knights — the glitzy, big-spending, Stanley Cup-chasing Golden Knights — have done it again. They pulled another rabbit out of the hat, adding one of the league’s premier playmakers to a roster already overflowing with star power. The building will be rocking, the hype machine is in overdrive, and the number on the board reflects every bit of that energy. That’s our cue.
Vegas is a perennial contender, no doubt. They’ve been one of the NHL’s model franchises since inception, and they deserve credit for building an identity around pace, aggression, and swagger. Yet for all that, the market routinely taxes the Knights like they’re untouchable — especially at home — when the reality is far different. They were just 4–5 down the stretch last spring in T-Mobile Arena, and they bowed out meekly to Edmonton. Now they’re breaking in a new top line, led by Marner and Eichel, which will take time to find its rhythm. Chemistry doesn’t happen on demand, no matter how big the names are.
The other side of this coin? A Los Angeles team that’s quietly built to frustrate Vegas. The Kings are coming off a sloppy opening-night loss to Colorado, and while the scoreboard says 4–1, that was one of those results where the puck found the Avalanche sticks at every key moment. L.A. didn’t play as poorly as the final suggested. They were a bit flat early, and Kuemper didn’t see much rubber, but this team still rolled four lines, controlled possession for long stretches, and got chances they didn’t finish. In the second half of a back-to-back, that loss actually works in their favor — there’s no complacency, no coasting into the bright lights of Vegas. They’re already engaged.
