Atlanta +111 over NEW YORK

7:40 PM EST. Game 1 could have gone either way, narrowly. It happened to go our way with the Hawks. But game-to-game here, the Knicks are not priced right, “priced” being the wrong word because you pay with the dollar amount you choose to wager, not with the point-spread. What New York is, in reality, is the wrong type of commodity, that being a home favorite that averaged 6.7 fewer points per game in the regular season than the Hawks. That’s three possessions. The efficient market will argue that the Knicks make it up on defense but you can’t always rely on the stops from 72 exhibition games to be there in a postseason series against an opponent with greater offensive potential in spades.

Don’t get us wrong, as we have a great deal of respect for a Knicks’ team that has captured the hearts of the media and their fans with their hard work and gym-rat mentality. The Knicks are tough as shoe leather but what they are not, is priced correctly, as they should be an underdog in every game, which is why New York was the underdog in the series but the efficient market fell for it. When they get to Atlanta, the Knicks will be taking back what, maybe 3½ to 4 points? Probably not enough, but first things first. Keep playing the value.
