Sacramento -4½ over CLEVELAND

Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse – Cleveland, OH

7:40 PM EST. There are times when we just have to play numbers and not teams and this is one of those times. Sacramento comes in off a 129-105 drubbing suffered at the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night. The Kings were taking back four points at the tip and alas, were nowhere near close to coming in under the number. In fact, Philly was covering for 98% of the game and led by as much as 36 and the result is leaving the market with a bad taste in its mouth concerning the Kings. Not so for the Cavs.

Cleveland comes in off a 116-105 upset of the Toronto Raptors last night where the Cavs were taking back 7½ points at tip-off. Cleveland has shown some signs of life recently compared to where it stood earlier in the season when they were riding a double-digit game losing streak both straight up and against the number. The Cavs also staged another upset in a similar range on March 17th when The Land played host to the visiting Celtics. The Cavaliers would win that one 117-110. With their most recent success against the Raps combined with the recent upset of the C’s, the Cavaliers have much appeal taking back points at home against a team that does not have the market appeal of a team like Boston or Toronto. Coupling this with the nasty blowout loss that the Kings sustained, many queries are raised as to how Sacramento is even favored here.

The line is no error. Teams that get blown out seldom do in their follow-up, as they will approach the next match-up with a sense of urgency. The fact that Sacramento is the chalk suggests that the Kings are primed for a bounce-back in a huge way while Cleveland may actually be caught overlooking the Kings after a couple of very satisfying wins. The price says to swallow the points.
