Montreal +139 over Ottawa

7:05 PM EST. OT included. The Canadiens are stumbling and bumbling their way into the offseason after seven straight losses, but this game has little to do with them, but rather Habs legend Guy Lafleur, who passed away at 70 just yesterday. This will be the first time that "Les Canadiens” will take the ice since. We don’t know if it matters or not but one has to trust that wearing the Habs jersey today means a little more than it did a few days ago. Montreal figures to be hungry for a win.

We like the plucky Senators as much as anyone, but when Ottawa is favored in this range they are simply not playable. Furthermore, the Sens return home after a three game road trip that saw them play in Seattle, (loss 4-2), Vancouver (SO win 4-3) and Columbus (SO win 2-1). On the surface, there isn’t much more one could ask of a young team, but this is not a space for such praise. Rather, a poke under the hood shows the Sens were badly outplayed by the Kraken, getting outshot 28-14. Ottawa was also outshot in Vancouver and Columbus despite the positive results.

A breakdown of the Xs and Os is not necessary here. It’s a good spot for the Habs to proudly wear their jerseys and play as hard as any player that has ever worn that iconic jersey. It’s also a good time to dig down deep and get Carey Price his first win of the season. Throw in Ottawa’s fifth game this week and the tail end of back to backs and a confluence of factors have combined to make this the perfect situational spot for the Habs to snap their seven-game losing streak.
