Detroit -½ +425 over TORONTO

7:08 PM EST. Regulation only. We’re not going to get into some long-winded analysis here. Instead, we’re going to make it very short and very simple. This game is priced like it’s 2019. Back then it would have been warranted. In fact, we can look back at 2019 and see that Toronto is favored by a bigger margin today than they were two years ago when Detroit was a bottom three team and Toronto was a top-3 team.

This year the Red Wings are greatly improved while the Maple Leafs are a fragile bunch with weak goaltending and a weak defense. At a time when every team is scoring six goals on the Blackhawks, Toronto had to rally from a 2-0 deficit to win in OT against Chicago last time out. We understand that Detroit will be playing its third game in four nights and tail end of back-to-backs but we care not, as the Wings took three out of a possible four points from Washington and Florida and they did not look outclassed in any way last night in Florida. Adding to the Maple Leafs inflated price is the fact that Tyler Bertuzzi is not allowed in Canada (not vaccinated), but that’s not going to deter us in the least in taking back this absurd price on Detroit.
