10:05 PM EST. The Bruins are the hottest goaltender team in the NHL with five wins in a row and 11 wins in their last 12 games. Yes indeed, the Bruins are a tough team to bet against right now but so were the Bolts in Vegas the other day and they got crushed. Because hockey is such a luck-driven sport, it is rare to see winning streaks of this magnitude and it won’t be long before the B’s come back down to earth. To us, this looks like the game it happens in. You see, the B’s played last night in Calgary and were down 3-1 before rallying for three straight to win it 4-3. This is now the 4th straight road game for Boston after games in New York, Edmonton and Calgary last night. It’s also the Bruins third game in four days, tail end of back-to-backs and third game in the always difficult Western Canada swing. The Bruins barely escaped Edmonton in a 2-1 OT victory and then barely escaped Calgary in a 4-3 come from behind rally. Boston will now conclude its four-game trip before returning home to play Calgary again on Tuesday. 

The Canucks have lost two in a row and six of eight, thus creating this excellent buy-low opportunity. Last game out, the Canucks were a strong speculative play after picking up Tyler Toffoli but then the team went out and lost at home to Minnesota. That did not sit well in this market and now we get one of the NHL’s better home teams at a real bargain. Vancouver is 19-7-4 at home. The acquisition of Toffoli was a strong one and gives the Canucks more true balance in their scoring. At the end of the day, this one is simply about value. Vancouver doesn’t lose at home often and that alone makes them very worthy of a wager here. Now we just have to hope that Tuukka Rask doesn’t steal one and that perhaps Jakob Markstrom can.
