Colorado -½ +170 over PITTSBURGH

7:05 PM EST. Pittsburgh has had to deal with a lot already this year and it’s probably going to take a bit of time for the dust to settle. There are new faces, injuries to key players and a lot of shuffling of personnel and lines. While the Pens will be able to get away with it against weaker teams, we’re going to trust that they’re vulnerable against better teams. After a 1-2 start, the Pens have reeled off three in a row but it came against Winnipeg, Anaheim and Minnesota. The Wild scored four times on the Pens and Pittsburgh has also been outchanced in four of its six games so far. 

Colorado is paying off and until they stop, we see no reason to jump ship. When a team is off to such a hot start (5-0), they can’t wait to get back on the ice. Colorado is getting outstanding play from all four phases (offense, defense, goaltending, special teams) and things are clicking right now. Cale Makar has been as good as or better than advertised. He’s contributing on the scoresheet and is already seeing ice time that eclipses 20 minutes per night. Tyson who? Four lines that are difficult to deal with and a boatload of confidence make the Avs a great value play here to win in regulation. Of course that could happen.
