TORONTO -½ +139 over Tampa Bay

7:05 PM EST. Regulation only. The Leafs are 2-2 into the young season and one of those victories was a not so easy one against the Sens. Their other victory came against Columbus. Toronto lost to the Blues and Habs and they’ve also lost two in a row. The result of all that is we get them today at a discount here and we’re all over it. The Maple Leafs have played some dominating hockey. In the loss to the Blues, they had 34 scoring chances to the Blues 18. They had a 4-1 lead over Montreal and the Habs played a damn strong game that night. Toronto could easily be 4-0 and there are not going to be too many stretches this entire season when they lose three in a row.

The Lightning are just 1-2 after three games and have not looked sharp at all. Perhaps that sweep at the hands of the Blue Jackets in the first round last April has the Bolts mindset a little different this year. Perhaps the mindset is to not burn out during the regular season. In any case, Tampa figures to be better tonight but it could also be a case of a lingering effect of getting knocked out. The Hurricanes made Tampa look like the worst team in the NHL last week. Carolina outshot Tampa 44-13. Florida also had two outstanding games against the Bolts but Tampa emerged with a split. Right now (and it’s early), the Bolts look vulnerable while the Leafs look anything but. One can play Toronto with OT included at -115 or thereabouts also and still get great value. We’re playing it in regulation only.
