We keep drilling it into your heads that the results in the NHL on a nightly basis are extremely luck-driven that works both ways and we have a great example of that here. The results suggest that the Bruins are the second hottest team in the NHL with an 8-0-2 record over their past 10 games while the Golden Knights are 3-7 over that same span. Under the hood, however, we absolutely find that the Golden Knights are in far better form than the B’s and that Boston has been on the extreme side of good fortune.

Over the past 10 games, Vegas has created 151 High Danger Scoring Chances while the B’s have created 45 less. The High Danger Shots Against are dead even at 110 each, yet Boston has scored 35 times over that span while the Knights have scored just 22 times. That’s all luck. We could go over all the analytics but at the end of the day, they all say that the Knights are dominating and losing while the B’s are outplaying nobody and winning. Boston is coming off a 6-5 OT win in San Jose to run its winning streak to six games. They are also 3-0 on this current five-game trip. Incidentally, in that 6-5 win over the Sharkies, Boston scored six times on 20 shots while the Sharks had 38 shots on net. It was complete domination by San Jose.

What we have now is the Bruins in a complacent state of mind with no danger of missing the playoffs or no danger of anything else, making an annual visit to Las Vegas. On a 8-0-2 run and winners of six in a row, this game will take place near the end of February with the Bruins in cruise control. They arrived here yesterday and they do not play again until Saturday in St. Louis so there will be no rush to get out of here. We can assure you that the players cannot wait for this game to end so they can gamble and/or just have fun being on the road in one of the greatest cities in the world. Do you really think it’ll be all hands on deck for a meaningless game in late February for a team that is winning so frequently? In order to beat the Knights at this venue, or any venue for that matter, a team has to be at its best because everything about the Golden Knights is truly legit. Last year was no fluke and this year they are even better. We can almost guarantee that the Knights will badly outplay a disinterested Boston team and if Boston’s extreme good fortune holds up again, we’ll just have to shake it off again.
