7:00 PM EST. Regulation only. The Sharkies got buried in Ottawa yesterday afternoon to run its losing streak to 0-4 on this current five-game road trip. Should San Jose lose this one, they will return home from said trip with zero out of a possible 10 points. What ails the Sharks is not poor play, it’s the weak goaltending of one Martin Jones and the inconsistency of Aaron Dell. The Sharks have allowed five goals or more in three of their past four games but they outshot the opposition in those games, 38-27, 41-29 and 38-31. When they lost to Vegas, 6-0, the shots on net were almost even (36-33).

San Jose is a monster puck possession team that can’t win a game these days. We’re sure it’s frustrating as hell but them losing is not sustainable. What makes them losing so many games even more remarkable is that at least one of the following three, Marc-Édouard Vlasic, Erik Karlsson and Brent Burns are on the ice 100% of the time.

The good news here is that Montreal’s goaltending is just as bad whether they use Carey Price or Antti Niemi and since Price played last night, we’ll assume that Niemi gets the start here. If he doesn’t, that’s fine too because both are garbage. Oddsmakers have the reeling Sharks favored here for a reason. They know it and we know it that the Sharkies are going to play their bloody hearts out to avoid returning home with the embarrassing  conclusion of zero points. They are also the superior team.
