The Lightning need little introduction, as they have long been one of the favorites to win the Stanley Cup in the Eastern Conference and between that and the talking heads pumping them up every season, it has been beaten into the market that is an elite team. We're not here to argue that they are not elite, but there is no question that you will pay a premium to back them regardless of the opponent and that is on full display this evening. For a goaltender like Louis Domingue to be priced in this range against a side that is on a run of victories like the Sabres are on is impossible to justify.

If you strip away the logos and just look at this game between two teams with very similar records, this line is a joke. However, the Sabres have been dregs for quite some time (including earlier this season after a slow start), but they have acquired some outstanding young players over that time and they are now finally coming into their own. It's not like Buffalo is still floundering in the cellar either, as it is one of the hottest teams in the league after ripping off 10 straight wins. Tonight, the Sabres have a chance to set the franchise record for consecutive victories with 11. When you are playing well and winning, you want nothing more than to get back on the ice. Buffalo actually leads the Lightning in the standings by one point (both have played 25 games), but they are totally underpriced here. Just to prove that point, the Lightning were -152, -163 and -171 on this recent five-game homestand in games against the Panthers, Blackhawks and Devils respectively. That Tampa is a more significant price today against these Sabres is borderline criminal. If we rip up this ticket, so be it, but you won't find a bigger overlay on the board today.
