We've been driving the Rangers fan bus since the start of the season and although they've picked up a few more passengers after a solid start to the year, they aren't getting much respect from the market. New York had its run of three wins in a row come to an end yesterday afternoon in Philadelphia after a 4-0 loss. That was the first time this season the Rags were left off the scoresheet, but we're willing to bet that it doesn't happen again here. Despite their surprising success, the Rangers are still undervalued and yesterday's setback isn't going to convince many to put down their leftover stuffing and back them here against what is perceived to be one of the elite teams in the league.

The Capitals deserve some credit for keeping it together here in the first quarter of the season after finally punching their Stanley Cup ticket in June. Like the Rags, the Caps are coming off a Black Friday showing, but unlike New York, they picked up the W against Detroit. The 3-1 victory is nice on paper but Washington was severely outshot 32-20, but managed to score three goals with just two high danger scoring chances the entire game. In the third period, the Red Wings were actually all over the Caps and outshot them 14-7, but Washington would be the one to light the lamp. That misleading result is not the only one the Capitals have gotten this season, as they are one of the league leaders in "puck luck" or PDO, which uses a team's save and shooting percentages to measure whether or not the bounces are going their way. So far the Caps are getting the breaks, but a correction is coming at any time. Washington is severely overpriced and we will continue to attack them when they’re road chalk in a game they shouldn’t even be favored in.
