1:00 PM EST. Regulation only. The Rangers are coming off their first win of the season, but despite that recent success, they are giving up shots in bunches. New York really had no business beating San Jose the other night, as the Sharks dictated the pace of play and outshot the Rags 43-27. It was the second game in a row that the Rangers were dominated on the shot clock. In a loss at Carolina the game prior, the Hurricanes outgunned N.Y. 40-24. Much has been made about the supposed resurgence of Henrik Lundqvist, but at 36, if he keeps getting pelted like he is, it's going to be a long season. As far as his stats go, Lundqvist is a middle of the road goaltender ranking 16th in goals-against average and 14th in save percentage. His Rangers teammates are not doing him any favors either, as the Rags are 24th in puck possession, which means on most nights it appears New York is going to be climbing uphill. That will not serve it well when a team with as much firepower as the Oilers comes to town.

When you have arguably the best player in the league, expectations are going to be high, but the Oilers were big-time underachievers last season after missing the playoffs. It wasn't Connor McDavid's fault, as he won a second straight scoring title, but it was the struggles of goaltender Cam Talbot that sunk Edmonton's season. Talbot has proven he can be great, as he was two years ago when he was getting Vezina chatter after starting 73 games and posting a .919 save percentage to go along with a 42-win season and seven shutouts. Edmonton was considered a Stanley Cup contender just a year ago, but was picked to finish sixth in the Pacific Division by the Hockey News here in 2018-19. That tells us the Oilers stock was low before they even played a game and now they are 0-2 to start the season, which has further deflated their value. Edmonton opened the year overseas and returned to play Boston on Thursday night so one can excuse them for starting a bit slow but we liked what we saw in Boston despite 5the score. This team is being greatly disrespected and that’s a big motivator. This may very well be a sleeping giant so buy now before it wakes.

Also, just like in baseball and every sport, there is a great chance will be adding a bunch of late add-ons to our slate of games after dinner and we’ll be sure to tweet them out when we do.
