7:30 PM EST. It's so hard not to get caught up in the Golden Knight's hype but they've been living a charmed life since blasting the Sharks 7-0 in Game 1 of this series. Since that eye-opening night, the Knights have been a pretty poor defensive team after giving up 14 goals over the last four games. That's 11 more tallies than they allowed during their entire series against the Los Angeles Kings. Most concerning for Vegas has been its inability to stay out of the penalty box. The Golden Knights have given up a power play goal in four straight games and they have taken at least four trips to the sin bin in every game this series, which is not a recipe for success.
The Sharks dominated the Knights the last time these two teams took the ice at SAP Center in a 4-0 win. Before that, the Sharks out-chanced and outshot Vegas 42-33 in a tough-luck overtime loss in Game 3. In Game 5, the Sharks had more high danger scoring chances (14 to 11) and outshot Vegas 39 to 30 despite taking the loss. San Jose is averaging 37.2 shots per game in this series and without doubt has been the better team as a whole. The Sharks have been nearly unbeatable at home in these playoffs and they have outscored their opponents 17-6 on home ice. The Sharks are still not being given the same respect by oddsmakers or the market that the Knights are getting. San Jose is once again a much cheaper price at home than Vegas was just two nights ago. Once again we’ll reiterate that luck plays a big role and there is a good chance that Marc Andre Fleury outplays Martin jones and Vegas steals a series clinching win but we cannot worry about that. We’re playing the team that is dictating the play and we’re going to trust the Sharkies to send it back to Vegas for a Game 7. We are already invested in this series for four units, but we are going back to the well one more time. However, rather than spot a price today, we will take the Sharkies to win this series at +307. If San Jose wins today, we will buy out of our liability on the Sharks and free-roll in a winner takes all Game 7.
