Denver +100 over San Francisco

8:20 PM EST. They say life comes at you fast. If you are Jimmy Garoppolo you are living proof of that cliché. It wasn’t that long ago that Jimmy G, was on the cover of GQ and melting the hearts of San Francisco. Dude went to the Super Bowl and had the 49ers just minutes away from the Lombardi Trophy until Patrick Mahomes went Patrick Mahomes and ripped that hardware right out of Garoppolo’s hands. After that run, the ‘Niners did their best to surround Jimmy G with all the tools he needed to get them over the hump. Just kidding, they traded a king’s ransom to trade up and draft his replacement, Trey Lance, second overall. This after making a deal with the Packers to trade Garoppolo to Green Bay for Aaron Rodgers, a move the Pack would back out of at the last minute. All said, it looked like Jimmy was done in Frisco.

Everybody loves a comeback story, and Jimmy G is on that path. You’re going to get more than you can handle from the Sunday night crew if the pre-game shows earlier in the day didn’t force feed you enough of him. We like a comeback story too, but for much different reasons. The 49ers looked like crap with Lance and they were being written off after just one game. San Fran now has life in the market which we can take advantage of.

The Broncos’ hopes of turning into a contender overnight after trading for Russell Wilson has been a bust thus far. Those that said they called it like Stephan A, are hollering “I told you so,” while the rest are jumping off the Broncos like rats on a sinking ship. We live in a society that demands instant gratification. There is no such thing as patience anymore. Like Aaron Rodgers said all those years ago, “relax."

The struggles of the Denver offense are not limited to it, but the Broncos' woes are highly publicized because of the high expectations that came with that move. However, like many star players, Wilson did not play in any preseason games. Like the Colts, another contender that went quarterback hunting, the Broncos have struggled. Also, like the Colts, the Broncos’ stock is lower than it should be after just two games. Meanwhile, this is a defense that has allowed just 26 points across two games and there is no love coming its way.

A deep dive into the Broncos' season thus far shows that they have been their own worst enemy, racking up a ton of penalties and turning the ball over like it was a stinky diaper. Both of those areas are what we call, “in-game variance,” those plays, calls or bounces that cannot be predicted. The results of these games can also not be predicted, but they can be mined for value. Hell, the Broncos are a pooch at home on Sunday Night Football. If that’s not an overreaction, we don’t know what is.
