L.A. Rams -3½ -105 over SAN FRANCISCO

8:20 PM EST. There are a lot of moving parts here that quite frankly have us pretty uninterested in this Monday night matchup, at least before the coin flip. First up are the Rams, who made a “splash” by signing disgruntled wide receiver Odell Beckham Junior after clearing waivers. However, just as the ink was drying on the paper of Beckham’s new deal, the Rams lost one of their two stud wide receivers in Robert Woods, who tore his ACL and is now out for the season. The Woods injury will suit OBJ just fine, as he’ll see far more targets than he would have otherwise, but for the Rams, we aren’t as optimistic on the outlook. Cooper Kupp is going to see far more attention than usual. As for OBJ, it’s one thing for L.A. to bring in a career cry baby to play a complementary role on a contending team—quite another for it to have to rely on said cry baby, right out of the gate.

Despite the major offensive shakeup for the Rams, we have to question what the appetite will be for a 49ers side that was embarrassed at home by the Colt McCoy-led Cardinals in Week 9. Considering the fate of those Colt’s Cardinals in Week 10, that loss looks even worse than it did eight days ago. Additionally, the injury chasers were out in full force in that Week 9 matchup, as Arizona was also without DeAndre Hopkins—while the 49ers welcomed back George Kittle. If not for the injury to Woods, the temptation to “zig-zag” here and fade the 49ers after getting burned last week would be stronger than it is; because of that, we’re not as hot on the 49ers as we were when this line dropped.

As for that number, it’s bounced around all week, which suggests that perhaps this game might be one that is better to avoid rather than to invest. The Rams were getting the love early until all hell broke loose in the WR corps, and now we are seeing some interest in San Francisco; that’s a red flag. The Rams were embarrassed on Sunday Night Football in Week 9, which resonates because of that game’s sizeable audience. Is a bounce-back here for the undermanned Rams so out of the question? Interesting game, yes but one we're not high on so we'll pass with a slight lean to the 49ers.
