WASHINGTON -2½ -109 over N.Y. Jets

1:00 PM EST. The Jets are coming off a win over the Giants in the battle of New York but that only means that they’re being offered up here as a decent looking play when in fact, they’re not. There are already calls for HC Adam Gase to be fired but it is only his first year. He's dealt with one of the worst offensive lines, a bad schedule, and an overall lack of talent. The remaining schedule still contains games against the Bengals and Dolphins as potential wins but the season is virtually over and the list of what to fix in 2020 needs to be written. At the top - "what is wrong with Sam Darnold?" Maybe the Jets win back-to-back games but don’t forget that this same team with fewer injuries than they have now got walloped by Jacksonville and their “flash in the pan” back-up QB. They were also the first team to lose to the Dolphins when frankly, the Dolphins looked like they had no chance of winning a game all season. The list of putrid performances by the Jets goes on and on and now we’re going to back them taking back a deuce on the road after a win? We don’t think so.

The Redskins come off their bye on a three-game losing streak but at least Derrius Guice is slated to return for something different. There is not much to gain by winning since the draft needs are deep and there will be a new coaching staff in 2020. The Skins haven't scored more than nine points in a game since Week 6 but nothing about this offense suggests improvement is likely. We don’t care. Thew ‘Skins stock is low and we’re buying. Dwayne Haskin had his first career start in Week 9 when he passed for 144 yards and no scores in Buffalo. He did not turn over the ball but only threw 22 times, completing 15. He was sacked four times. At least this week, Haskins has his first home start and may inject some life. Despite losing often, the Redskins at least show up and try their best. Washington’s last three opponents were the Bills, 49ers, Vikes and they didn’t look out of place in any of them. Big step down in class here. Surely, the ‘Skins have to view this as a winnable game and if we had to bet which team is more likely to show up in body only, it’s a no brainer and it’s not the Redskins. When a team goes this long in this league scoring so few points, beware of a breakout and then buy low.
