The right-hander owns a sharp 2.83 ERA and his underlying metrics suggest the success is legitimate. Hancock carries a 3.35 xERA, an outstanding 20% K-BB rate and a robust 180 BPX, all indicators of a pitcher taking a significant step forward. His road performance has been particularly impressive, going 2-1 with a 2.93 ERA and a stingy 1.01 WHIP across 31 innings in five starts away from Seattle. Even more encouraging is his recent form, allowing just five earned runs over his last four outings combined while consistently working deep into games. Left-handed hitters have managed just a .602 OPS against him, a key statistic against a Baltimore lineup that leans heavily on left-side production.

Chris Bassitt (RHP - Baltimore Orioles) enters with a bloated 5.67 ERA and very little evidence that better days are around the corner. The veteran right-hander continues to battle command issues and has been vulnerable to hard contact throughout the season. While Bassitt still possesses the pitch mix to navigate lineups on occasion, his margin for error has become increasingly thin. Opponents have been squaring him up with regularity and his inability to consistently miss bats has resulted in elevated traffic on the bases.

Baltimore's offense has been productive at home, averaging 5.0 runs per game, but this matchup is more about the pitching discrepancy than the offensive numbers. Hancock is in excellent form, owns the superior underlying profile and has demonstrated an ability to thrive on the road. Seattle also enters with the better recent starting pitching trajectory and a bullpen capable of protecting late leads. With the Mariners sending the hotter arm to the mound and catching plus-money on the run line, the value rests squarely with Seattle. In a matchup where the better pitcher is being offered at a favorable price on the run line the Mariners are the preferred wager.
