6:35 PM EST. The Pirates are not the target here, but they are just what the doctor ordered when it comes to our true target: the visiting Rangers' bats. Not only is PNC Park still a pitcher-friendly place to play, but the Bucs will send Luis L. Ortiz (RHP - PIT) out for his third start of the season. Ortiz is a pitcher who has an elite ground ball profile that has translated to the majors in his eight innings across those two starts. While the sample size is small, Ortiz has an almost criminal fastball/slider combo that has also proven capable of missing bats during his ascent to the show.

The Rangers have been putting up crooked numbers in bunches, but this past weekend's series with the Rockies might have been their offense's most impressive and productive of the season. Texas battered visiting Colorado to the tune of 7-2 on Friday night, 11-5 on Saturday, and 13-3 yesterday. Dane Dunning (RHP - TEX) will go for the Rangers today. Dunning is 4-0 with an ERA of 1.69. At 29-17, the Rangers are tops in the American League Central. They've won seven of their last 10 and sit two games up on Houston in the Central and 2½ games up on Baltimore in the AL Wild Card race. That said, piling up runs against the lowly Rockies' pitching staff at hitter-friendly Globe Life Field in Arlington is a much different scenario than trying to score runs against a stingy Pirate rotation at a pitcher-friendly park.
