9:40 PM EST. Things did not go to plan for Brandon Pfaadt (RHP - ARI) in his first MLB start, but we’re not going to be too hard on the kid for having a rough outing on the road in Texas. Rather, we are going to use that learning experience to our advantage and back a prospect that is not likely to be under the radar for very long. Pfaadt is an imposing 6’4” 220 lbs, and he throws every bit as hard as a starting pitcher with that stature can. Pfaadt is capable of missing bats with anything he throws, and the Marlins just happen to be the fifth least disciplined team in the majors against right-handed pitching with their 250 K’s, which puts them right behind the Tigers and Athletics, each with 251.

We like Jesus Luzardo (LHP - MIA) as much as anyone else, but this is a good time to remind you that it does not matter what we like. Luzardo is 2-2 with an ERA of 3.66 and 43 punchouts in 39.1 innings. However, Luzardo also has a bloated WHIP of 1.40, and with an offense that ranks in the bottom third of the league behind him, we’d want better than a coin flip on him and the Marlins in this spot. With a total of 9 in a hitter's park, and the Snakes being 23rd in the bigs in punchouts v lefties, we’re going to play the Diamondbacks on the run line.
