Houston -1½ +111 over San Francisco

8:10 PM EST. During the long grind of an MLB season, where the players play every day, we often take a stats-based approach to try and find the value in these games. However, today, we have a situational play as the Giants return to the United States after a weekend set against the Padres in Mexico City. The Giants and Padres put up video game numbers on Saturday in a 16-11 San Francisco loss, but came back down to earth a little yesterday with just 10 runs being scored. However, the Giants would lose that game too, 6-4, and now they'll head to Houston after a disappointing weekend.

San Fran will send Ross Stripling (RHP - SF) for his turn tonight after he allowed three runs on six hits while striking out one over just 3.1 innings in last Sunday's (April 23) start. Stripling is hard to count on for innings, as he bounces back and forth between the bullpen and the rotation. In his 15.2 innings this season, Stripling has an inflated xERA of 8.25.

Meanwhile, Houston will go with Luis Garcia (RHP - HOU), who is coming off six scoreless innings of three-hit ball against Tampa Bay where he struck out seven Rays. It was an impressive performance against one of the hottest teams in the bigs, and Garcia should be licking his lips here with the free-swinging Giants in town. No team in the majors swings and whiffs more than the Giants. A night with double-digit punchouts is very much on the table, which makes backing the Astros on the run line the prudent play here.
