Cleveland took game one of this series, 5-3, last night at Fenway, and the Guardians will send Zach Plesac (RHP - CLE) to the bump today, who will try to rebound after his last start, Plesac took the loss against the Marlins last Saturday after giving up three earned runs over five innings while also striking out five. While the results have been inconsistent, Plesac's profile points to better days ahead, as his elite groundball rate of 51.5% is currently contrasted with a very unlucky Batting Average on Balls in Play of .397. A correction to the good is on the horizon.

Backing up Plesac is the second most disciplined team at the plate so far in 2023, as the Guardians are one of just two teams with less than 200 (193) punchouts through the first month of the season. Cleveland is hitting just .231 thus far, but that number will improve as long as the Guardians continue to make contact and not whiff at the plate.

The Red Sox will answer with a spot start by rookie Brayan Bello (RHP - BOS) after today's original starter, Garrett Whitlock, landed on the 15-day injured list with a bum right elbow. Bello has two other turns under his belt this season but has only lasted a total of 7.1 innings. In his limited action this year, Bello has given up 13 hits and eight earned runs. The dude is an interesting prospect, but the Red Sox didn't like all that they saw, so they sent him down to the minors for some more seasoning just five days ago. However, now Bello is back, and he's favored against one of the most disciplined teams in the majors. That's a tough assignment and one that is worthy of fading.
