Kansas City +115 over Texas

8:05 PM EST. The Royals are another targeted team that we started getting behind on May 10 for 13 straight games. We are two games in and the Royals have gone 1-1 in those two games with a profit of 0.20 units.

The main reason we’re getting behind the Royals is because they put the ball in play as much as any team in the league but have not been rewarded for it yet. Thus, a correction to the good in their wins and losses is very likely.

We’ll continue here for the final game of this three-game set and then we’ll get behind them in their three-game set in Colorado, then back to Kansas City for five with the White Sox before finishing up with a home series with Minnesota that wraps on May 22.

Jon Heasley (RHP - KC) will make his season debut today after a very brief cup of coffee last year. Heasley was a 13th round pick in 2018 and has methodically moved up in the organization. He enjoyed his best season to date in 2021 while in Double-A, posting a 3.33 ERA, 2.9 BB/9 and 10.3 K/9 while holding hitters to a .244 oppBA. His pitch mix continues to get better each season, particularly as he’s polished his pitch sequencing. None of his pitches grade as plus, but he mixes his 92-95 mph fastball, above average curveball and improving change-up. With a big body and repeatable delivery, he has the potential to stick for a long time. Heasley has focused on his command in recent years and that’s always a decent place to start. In 26 frames at Triple-A Omaha this year, Heasley posted a BB/K split of 6/30 but gave up four jacks.

Taylor Hearn (LHP - TEX) has started five games covering 21 innings and has struck out 24 batters while walking 10. Dude comes in with a 6.84/4.04 ERA/xERA split but his WHIP is horrible at 1.84. Taylor Hearn probably deserves better and we’re not going to suggest that K.C. has an edge here on the mound. We’re just providing you with a pitching profile of the two starters today while we continue our strategy of playing teams for an extended period regardless of who is pitching.
