NY Mets -1½ +108 over Arizona

8:10 PM EST. Listed pitchers show Trevor Williams (RHP - NYM) going for the Mets but it could be Darryl Strawberry for all we care. Williams may pitch an inning or two but whatever he delivers is fine, as this wager is all about fading the Diamondbacks and their starter. First the D-Backs.

Arizona has scored 42 runs in 14 games. Take away the 11 they scored in one game and now you have 31 runs in 13 games or the lowest scoring team in the majors. The Snakes are hitting a combined .180.

Then there’s today’s starter, Humberto Castellanos (RHP - ARI). Castellanos has made one start and two relief appearances this year so like his counterpart, he doesn’t figure to be in there too long. Regardless, he has walked four batters while striking out three in seven innings. His ERA is 2.57 but his xERA is 7.98. He has a swing of miss rate of 4.1%, which would be less than an outfielder coming in to clean things up in a blowout. Throw in a godawful groundball rate of 24%. Prior to last season, there was little to no ink on Castellanos. After last season, all there really is was his involvement in a benches clearing brawl during his major league debut in 2020, when he softly nudged Ramon Laureano (OAK) with a 77-mph curveball and after getting to first, Laureano charged Astros hitting coach Alex Citron in the dugout. He’s a mop-up dude getting another start pitching for perhaps the worst team in baseball in a hitters park. Yeah, we’ll take out chances.
