Kansas City -1½ +126 over Baltimore

7:05 PM EST. The 33rd overall pick in the 2018 draft, Jackson Kowar (RHP - KC) has risen quickly through the Royals system and seemed poised for a 2021 MLB debut, which occurred in early June and for three starts but did not go well, thus he was sent back for more seasoning. Upon his return on Sept 1, we saw a different Jackson Kowar and it was pretty sweet. Dude Features a fastball that sits mid-90s and touches 98 mph, a dominant change-up, and improving curve. He needed a little more polish, got it and here we are. He has, how do they say it --- keeper league appeal.

Alex Wells (LHP - BAL) is a 24-year-old minor league pitcher with a fastball that touches 88 MPH. A season vet might get away with 88 MPH but a rookie with weak skills will not. Wells has methodically moved up the minor league system one level per year, never dominating, but always providing decent results with good control. He just doesn't have any plus pitches in his four-pitch repertoire. He repeats his delivery and controls his pitches, so the walk rate remains low, but he never strikes out more than 21% of the batters he's faced, and in the upper levels his ceiling is 20%. He has a crossfire delivery from a high-3/4s motion. In short, he has average stuff and has been whacked to the tune of a 7.93 ERA with a 1.93 WHIP while posting a dreadful 26%/34%/40% groundball/line-drive/fly-ball profile. Dude is batting practice.
