BALTIMORE -1½ +161 over Miami

7:10 PM EST. The Marlins took the opener 7-3 last night but that was with Sandy Alcantara on the mound. Tonight it will be Jordan Holloway (RHP - MIA). We would not blame you if you were not able to find much on Holloway, as he's not one of the Marlins many quality pitching prospects. Instead, dude is a former 20th round pick that was ranked 35th in the Marlins system by FanGraphs prior to the season. While pedigree is not everything, one cannot help but think that Holloway is nothing more than a plug here. He's made 12 appearances this year and just three starts. His 3.21 ERA in the majors might look pretty good on paper, but he posted a 4.50 down in Triple-A Jacksonville. In five games for the Jumbo Shrimp (four starts), Holloway went 0-3.

Readers of this space will likely recognize Jorge Lopez (RHP - BAL) at this point, as he's been on our radar for most of the season. A former second round pick from 2011, Lopez has some pedigree and he's been kicking around the majors for longer than one might think. Now on his third team in six seasons, Lopez has found a home. A career high strikeout rate (8.43 K/9) that is up nearly two points over last season is encouraging. His 48.4% groundball rate is on the tipping point of being elite and he's been steady as they come in that department since his MLB debut in 2015. Finally, an xERA that trends lower than his surface number also shows promise that dude is finally hitting his stride.
