L.A. Angels -1½ +175 over MINNESOTA

6:35 PM EST. Patrick Sandoval (RHP - LAA) has been a hard luck starter, going four turns without a win dating back to June 19. The Angels took the opener of this series on Thursday and they were in the driver's seat against last night before blowing a four run lead and a 5-4 decision. Sandoval has the makings of a solid pooch with an elite groundball rate (53%) and an xERA that is 0.39 points lower than his surface number. His incredible 16% swing and miss rate this season also shows that there is a lot to like, especially at a price like this.

Jose Berrios (RHP - MIN) has been inconsistent so far in 2021. Dude has been firmly elite with the bases empty: 31% K%, 5% BB%, 26% K-BB% and 46% grounders but all of those skill components have eroded a ton with runners on base: 19% K%, 9% BB%, 9% K-BB and 40% grounders. His xERA is horrible with runners on, thus the key to beating him is obviously to get some traffic on the bases. Berrios has not or cannot adjust his approach with runners on base, thus making him a big risk as the chalk. The Twins are also a big risk. Now combine the two and it produces great fade value.
