DETROIT -1½ +169 over Texas

7:10 PM EST. Which one of these teams is going to show up at the ballpark three hours earlier than scheduled? Point is, the Tigers cannot wait to play more baseball while the Rangers can’t find anywhere to hide. After losing 10-2 and 10-0 against the Blue Jays on the weekend, the baseball Rags landed in Detroit where they lost to the upstart Tigers, 14-0. That’s 34 runs allowed in the past three games, not to mention a beat up bullpen, which does not bode well here for Dane Dunning (RHP - TEX) and the rest of the gang.

Dunning is one player who we’ve already seen workload management affect. He is averaging a mere 75 pitches per start and on four occasions, including his two starts immediately before the break, has not been allowed to reach 70. He has done reasonably well despite that, but he’s practically useless because the Rangers only goal is to keep Dunning’s body warm for the future. The Rangers have nothing for which to play in 2020. While they seem to be managing Dunning in a fashion that allows him to pitch deeper into the season, a shutdown in September still seems a distinct possibility given their conservatism and even if he’s throwing a no-hitter, dude is not going past four frames.

Does it matter who’s pitching for the Tigers? We think not but in case you are interested, Tarik Skubal (LHP DET) continues to impress. His electric stuff is evident in his swinging strike rate that is now up to 15%. Dude has 105 K’s in 89 frames. In the end, the Tigers can’t wait to play ball, the Rangers are seeing BB’s at the plate while their pitchers are throwing beach balls.
