Pittsburgh +150 over WASHINGTON

7:10 PM EST. Does it really matter which POS starter the Pirates send out today? Whether it’s today’s starter (Tyler Anderson LHP - PIT) or yesterday’s or the day before, the Pirates find ways to lose so there’s no reason to break down Tyler Anderson’s numbers. Chances are that he’s going to last five innings or less and we have to hope he surrenders four runs or less. This wager has nothing to do with getting behind Pittsburgh or Tyler Anderson.

Patrick Corbin (LHP, WAS) -165? Really? Corbin has seen his skill set fall apart, as he owns an ugly 5.72 xERA. He has a BB/K split of 26/48 in 62 innings. In his last start, Corbin walked four and struck out three with a 3.2% swing & miss rate. Dude has a WHIP of 1.51 and is barely minor-league worthy anymore. Over his last three starts, his xERA is 6.91. Seven of Corbin’s 12 starts have resulted in a disaster. Most of that damage has been by right-handed batters, who have hit him hard with a .312 BA, .931 OPS, and 12 HR but left-handed batters have hit him hard too. As bad as the Pirates are, they are still going to win about 40% of their remaining games and this one is winnable. Most importantly, a junk starter like Patrick Corbin cannot be priced like he’s Max Scherzer. Jesus.
