COLORADO -1½ +240 over San Diego

8:40 PM EST. The Padres are great, no doubt, but Coors Field does not play favorites. For Dinelson Lamet (RHP - SD) that means we can disregard his 3.52 ERA. However, if one wanted to be picky, we'll point to his 4.25 xERA. A closer look under the hood shows that Coors could be especially harsh to Lamet, as he sports just a 34.9% ground ball rate. Those balls that may find the glove of an outfielder will often find themselves in the stands at Coors. While the sample size is small, Lamet has made two starts at Coors that totalled six innings. He went 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA.

Austin Gomber (LHP - COL) has been featured in this space before and this will not likely be the last time either. It's not often a pitcher moves to the high altitude of Denver and sees their stock improve. Gomber was in Cardinal red last season and posted a 4.07 xERA, his mark this season is 3.42. If your first thought was to check is home/road splits, don't worry, we've got you covered. Dude is better at home than he's been on the road. Seriously. In four home starts at Coors, Gomber is 2-1 with a 1.33 ERA. Opposing batters have hit a flimsy .182 against him. His 20 strikeouts in 20 innings may not look elite on the surface, but when you consider he's faced the Dodgers, Astros and these Padres in three of those starts, his performances at home become even more impressive. He last took the mound at Coors against the Rangers giving up just three hits over six innings, allowing no runs and punching out six. Gomber’s last start was June 9 at Miami where he went five, giving up one run and striking out five. It is no mirage either. Gomber is legit and if he pitched anywhere but Colorado, he likely would not be sitting on the free agent list in your baseball pool. If it's not too late, buy in now.
