DETROIT +145 over N.Y. Yankees

1:10 PM EST. Tarik Skubal (LHP - DET) toes the rubber against a Yankees' nine that has produceds an average OPS versus southpaws. While the lefty has a 5.25 ERA in his last five games started, he has struck out at least eight hitters in three of his last four outings. He has better ratio results in home starts, as he has a 3.79 home xERA and a 1.18 home WHIP in 38 home innings. Skubal’s last three home starts have resulted in three very decent outings. This kid has tremendous upside and he’s getting progressively better with each passing week. So, too, are the Tigers.

At the age of 26, Michael King (RHP - NYY) has four career starts. He has appeared in seven games this year with none of them coming as a starter. This 12th round pick in 2016 is now favored 50 cents (-165) higher than Max Scherzer (-115) and it’s fucking absurd. If Michael King was not wearing Pinstripes today, he and whatever fucking team he played for woukd not be close to spotting a price like this. We must try and take advantage.

King made the 2020 Opening Day roster after missing most of 2019 recovering from a stress reaction in his right elbow. He has a heavy reliance on an average sinker, which didn't really generate groundballs to begin with. Besides that, relying on one pitch is dangerous in today's game. It is best to socially distance yourself from King's profile until he shows some evidence of command and skills growth. That may never come but in the meantime, New York favored in this range with a pitcher of this calibre starting is preposterous.
