4:00 AM EST. This is the value play of the day with the wrong side listed as the chalk. The 6-3 Bears will send out veteran starter Lee Yong-Chan to make his second start of the year. Lee has been an effective starter in this league for more than a decade but his shine started to wear off last year when he posted a 4.07 ERA and 1.44 WHIP over 148 frames covering 26 starts. Dude was tagged for 168 knocks with an unimpressive 102 K’s against 45 walks. In his first start this year, Lee was tagged for six hits and six runs in six innings. 

Pound for pound, Yang Hyun-jong is the best Korean pitcher in the KBO, and probably the only native really in the running for the league’s best pitcher. He’s dabbled with a MLB future here and there (Kia rejected a bid for his services back in 2014 and there have been follow-up inquiries since) but he will be starting his 14th season with the Tigers. He thrived during the KBO’s juiced ball era, even winning the league’s MVP back in 2017. He’s shown an uncanny ability to enhance bits and pieces of his game with each passing year, and he notched the lowest ERA of his career in 2019. He was banged around in his season debut but do not put a lot of weight on it. Dude can pitch and when he does, the Tigers usually win.
