7:05 PM EST. Trevor Williams (RHP - PIT) is another backend starter that is priced like an ace. Here’s a guy that relies on BABIP and luck to get by, as he has just 90 K’s in 120 innings with a weak batted ball profile of 35% grounders and 41% fly-balls. A trifecta of luck last year (hit%, strand%, hr/f) delivered some amazing 2nd half ERA/WHIP, but his peripherals screamed regression, as he doesn't possess a single plus skill. His high xERA last year has come to fruition this year and now Williams comes into this start with an ERA of 5.26, which matches last year’s xERA almost dead on. This year, his xERA is still weak at 5.18.

Robert Dugger (RHP - MIA) was part of the return from the Mariners for Dee Gordon and he has really seemed to find a comfort level this season, using his slightly above-average fastball to set up a plus slider and an improving change that is now above-average as well. Working from a three-quarters slot, Dugger mixes pitches and locations well with good command, keeping hitters from getting clear looks at his pitches. He has settled in as more of a ground-ball pitcher who can keep the ball out of the middle of the plate, throwing a lot of quality strikes with all of his pitches. Dugger has quietly made great progress and Derek Jeter, who doesn’t say much, has nothing but praise for him. Dugger has started twice already this year after getting called up from New Orleans of the difficult PCL. In his MLB debut on August 5, he was shaky against the Mets but three weeks later, on August 29, he was brilliant against the Reds, going seven full with 7 K’s and one walk issued while allowing just three hits and zero earned runs. This will be his third MLB start but this wager is more of a fade against the Pirates and Trevor Williams being priced like they’re the Dodgers with Walker Buehler starting.
