8:40 PM EST. The Red Sox might score 10 or more here so we’re going to hold our nose and hope that the Rockies score 15. They might too, as Rick Porcello (RHP - BOS) has been batting practice out there all season long. Porcello’s velo is down and so is his swing & miss and groundball rates. Trading groundball % for fly-balls and issuing more walks have contributed to a higher xERA. Hias xERA since the All-Star break is 6.81. His 31% hard-contact rate likely won’t play well here either.

Rico Garcia (RHP - COL) is a complete wildcard. Drafted in the 30th round with zero expectations, Garcia has done nothing but perform at every stop. While he was repeating Double-A for a second season before being called up by Alburquerque (Triple-A) of the PCL, he was laying waste to the league with a 1.92 ERA and 81 Ks in 61 innings. At Albuquerque, it’s been a different story, as he has allowed 73 hits in 55 frames since the promotion with 45 K’s but it’s really hard to measure or judge a pitcher by what he does in a small sample size in the PCL. Very few starters survive the PCL’s brutality. That said, this wager is very simply the Coors Field angle back in play.
