7:10 PM EST. We’re not going to rag on Cleveland’s starter here. Shane Bieber (RHP - MIN) was one of the most skilled starting pitchers in the game during the month of May: 11.7 K’s/9 1.4 BB’s/9 and 41% grounders, His 3.66 ERA would have been significantly lower if not for an elevated 24% hr/f. However, dude gives up jacks because he gives up plenty of fly-balls and the Twinkies can bash with anyone.

Devin Smeltzer (LHP - MIN) Left-handed; check. Good strikeout numbers; check. Good control; check. A prospect who has flown under the radar but is now getting a shot to pitch for one of the AL's hottest teams; check. Meet Devin Smeltzer, a fifth-round pick in 2016 by the Dodgers. Hailing from San Jacinto Junior College in Texas, he came over to the Twins as part of the Brian Dozier trade at the 2018 deadline. He's a textbook crafty lefty, as his fastball meanders in the low 90’s, yet he's able to make it work by mixing in a low-80s changeup and high-70s curve. He's made almost equal career appearances in the bullpen and the rotation, but all nine of his appearances thus far in 2019 have been as a starter. Over 303.1 career minor-league innings he posted a 3.86 ERA with 9 K’s/9. Devin Smeltzer definitely impressed in his MLB debut by throwing a gem versus the Brewers. He needed only 69 pitches to toss six shutout innings where he struck out seven and didn't walk a batter. The opposing Indians have struggled against left-handed pitching, with a .677 OPS. Of course we’ll get behind Minnesota as a dog here.
