8:10 PM EST. Kyle Hendricks (RHP - CHC) backers should be cautious with this play. The Houston Astros break for no one. Hendricks lacks overpowering stuff, so his success is predicated upon his ability to consistently hit spots, limit free passes and keep hitters off-balance. While it has worked for the most part, he has a small margin for error and that can lead to some occasional struggles like those he has experienced many times in the past. Though he has outpaced his xERA by a wide margin in each of the past three years, it would be wise to heed the warning signs of his 2017-18 xERA and not wager on him as the chalk in Houston.

Trust us when we tell you that every player, coach and starting pitcher checks the betting line every day. Think about it. If you were on a team that people could bet on or against, wouldn’t you check? Of course you would because even if you don’t gamble, it’s interesting to see how the market values you or you and your team. To the Astronauts, being a dog at home is insulting and it’s also motivating.

Wade Miley (LHP - HOU) was impressive in his last start, his second straight outing against Boston. Overall, Miley hasn’t been as good as his surface numbers would indicate, but a few recent turns have yielded positive signs. Here, the Houston port-sider will see a Cubs offense he has held in check over past batter v pitcher matchups (.684 OPS). The Cubbies lean left in its lineup, and that plays into a big Miley strength. The Astronauts are rolling and we see no reason to lay off them here.
