7:35 PM EST. Tampa Bay was an underdog in Baltimore in a game last week in which the Rays seemed to have a significant edge in, as Blake Snell and his solid season was an underdog against Dylan Bundy and his shaky form. We warned you about that game before hand, suggesting it didn’t smell right. Baltimore went out and pounded the Rays by a final score of 17-1 that day and this one has a similar feel, which is why we are playing it.

The Cubs are a -129 favorite (at the time of this writing). That makes no sense and we therefore expect this number to drop. You see, Atlanta is 25-15 and is at home while the Cubbies are 21-17 and are on the road. Yu Darvish comes of the DL with an ERA of 6.00 while Mike Foltynewicz has been electric with 47 K’s in 42 frames to go along with a 3.21 ERA. Atlanta beat the Cubs at Wrigley yesterday to run the Cubs losing streak to two games after they lost to the South Side on Sunday. There is not one thing about this game that suggests the Cubs should be favored so why are they? The oddsmakers did not err and the argument that Yu Darvish has market credibility holds no weight either, as he’s been awful since his postseason meltdown last year and he comes off the 10-day disabled list here. Some people do not believe in traps being set but we do and trust we found another one here. We can’t make a case for Darvish being a -130 favorite in Atlanta so we’re not even going to try. This is recognizing something that has a foul odor to it and playing it. However, since we refuse to spot a price, the play is Chicago on the run line.
