1:30 PM EST. No matter how one dissects this game, the number does not look right and one could argue that it is indeed historic. According to ESPN’s Chris Fallica, “this is the first time since 1978 that a team that is 3-8 or worse is favored over a team 9-2 or better. What adds the whipped cream and cherry to this is the fact that the Hawkeyes are ranked #16 in the country and should they win here and Wisconsin loses to Row The Boat tomorrow in the annual “Battle for Paul Bunyan’s Axe”, Iowa will go to Indianapolis next week to square off with either Michigan or Ohio State. However, a clear position is being taken here, which argues that Iowa will be back in Des Moines, no matter what happens tomorrow. The situation and the number here alone demands attention.

Frankly, we were looking for a reason to step away from this game. After all, ‘Huskers quarterback Adrian Martinez will not be available to injury. However, it appears at the time of writing that Alex Padilla will be under center for the Hawks so what we have here is essentially two backups squaring off.

When we take a deep dive into Nebraska, we see they have been a purveyor of absurdity all year long. To that point, the Huskers could be authors of some impressive wins this season had they not lost in what highlight procurers would call “the most Nebraska way”. We’ll explain. First, there was there near miss at then #3 Oklahoma whereas a 22½-point dog, the Cornhuskers lost by a mere touchdown. The ‘Huskers actually got a chance to tie the game in the final minutes of play after trailing by 14 at one point. Then the antics would really unfold. The ‘Huskers led against undefeated Michigan State until their patented special teams fuck-ups would allow Sparty to equalize and then steal the game in overtime. Two weeks later, Nebraska would lead a then undefeated and ranked #8 Michigan late in the fourth but thanks to sick turnovers and miscues, the Wolverines were able to escape the Sea of Red by way of a field goal margin. The ‘Huskers would then lose at Minnesota and host both Purdue and Ohio State and lose by a combined 21 points. Nebraska would cap it off by another loss which made the YouTube reels when a controversial missed pass interference call on Wisconsin’s one-yard line on 4th and 20 with four ticks remaining, allowed #15 Wisky to escape 35-28.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have been in-game variance’s punching bag in 2021. There is no question that Nebraska could be sitting with at least six wins, three of which would have included ranked opposition. The price suggests here vehemently that Nebraska’s bad luck is about to change in a big way so don’t get caught holding a bad ticket.
