ARIZONA +17½ -110 over Washington

8:30 PM EST. To say the Wildcats’ stock is low might be an understatement. Arizona is in the midst of a program worst 18-game losing streak; it was shut out last week in Colorado, averages just 14 points per game, and is without both its top quarterbacks. Now Will Plummer is taking the reins behind center, making his first start since the Wildcats’ Week 1 opening loss to FCS Northern Arizona. That result does little for Plummer’s shine, but last we checked, dude has two hands and two feet and is a scholarship worthy athlete. Could Plummer really be that much worse than the guys in front of him? Hell, the kid is playing with house money here with very little to lose and a long leash to work with. That’s a dangerous combination.

The Huskies were supposed to be a contender this season, but at 2-4, you can write them right off. Losers of two straight, Washington cannot get out of its own way, specifically quarterback Dylan Morris, who leads the Pac 12 with eight interceptions. Dude is a redshirt freshman, but when you start the season ranked #21 and lose to Montana (as 28½-point chalk) in Week 1, it kind of sets the tone for the rest of the year. The Jimmy Lake era in Seattle has been bumpy at best (5-5), and he has a five-star recruit on the bench in true freshman Sam Huard, so the calls are loud for a change to be made. However, Lake will not pull the trigger. At this point, it appears as if Lake doesn’t know whether to shit or wind his watch. Is that a team you want to spot a grossly inflated price with?

Even with the Wildcats’ woes, what business does Washington have spotting a number like this on the road? Twice this season, the Huskies have been tasked with laying the heavy lumber, and twice they lost outright, with their other defeat in that situation coming on the road at Michigan (31-10). Washington didn’t just lose that game; it got clobbered. Last week, the Huskies again disappointed, losing outright to UCLA, which came on the heels of their loss to Oregon State. Do you see the common theme here? Lake will inevitably get run out of town sooner rather than later after bungling what was supposed to be a College Football Playoff contender, but in the meantime, he is cutting off his nose to spite his face. By sticking with Morris, Lake is not giving his team the best chance to win. They know it, he knows it, and we know it. Scoop up these inflated points and enjoy the game.
