MIAMI -6½ over Michigan St

Hard Rock Stadium – Miami Gardens, FL

Streaming: ABC

12:00 PM EST. We understand the reluctance to get behind the Hurricanes once again, as they have been a bankroll killer in the first two weeks of the season. However, in the spirit of sticking with it,  we are coming right back on them this week.

How many times in your betting career have you sought out what you believed was a great play, bet that team, and subsequently watched in disbelief, as said team was getting torched. The following week, you lay off said team after watching such a disgusting display only to see them easily cover the number. It happens frequently. The point is that you did find an undervalued team but they performed the way you expected a week too late and you didn’t stick with it. One of our favorite strategies is to stick with it, as said team is even more undervalued after a weak showing. Enter the U.

We do not need to divulge much on the performance portfolio of Miami here, as it has been nothing but putrid. The Hurricanes appeared to have some value against Alabama in Week One and were summarily whacked. The ‘Canes would follow that up with a near-miss against Appalachian State in a 25-23 squeaker that the Mountaineers could have easily won had they not made some costly errors. However, Miami was a significant -7½-point choice and did not have that price covered once the entire game. In fact, they were trailing throughout and never stood a chance of covering. Back-to-back sour performances has the ‘Canes bandwagon emptying. If you bet Miami once or twice this year and watched them play, you’re probably askingh yourself how the fuck can this team be this big a favorite over the 2-0 Spartans.

We saw Michigan State in this in Week Zero. In fact, the Spartans were such a delectable play against Northwestern that they went from opening as a 6-point dog down to a three-point pooch by kick-off. The efficient market had their way in that affair, as Michigan State throttled the Wildcats in a 38-21 route from gate-to-wire. Point is, Michigan State has cashing tickets appeal while Miami has zero appeal spotting points. Now combine the records (an 0-2 team that has looked horrible spotting significant points to a 2-0 team that kicked Morthwestern’s ass) and we can safely infer that a blatant trap has been set. If you bet Sparty, don’t say you weren’t warned.
