TULSA +17 -106 over Central Florida

For Nitro Subscribers - ESPN2 in the Canada/USA sports group.

7:00 PM EST. On September 21st, Pitt defeated UCF to end the Knights 27-game win streak. Two weeks later on October 4th, UCF would lose again, this time to Cincinnati to destroy any chance of competing in the CFP. The Knights have beaten East Carolina, Temple and Houston since that loss to the Bearcats but their season goal has been crushed and that makes motivation difficult and also makes covering a number like this on the road difficult also. Make no mistake that the Knights are explosive and very capable of whacking any lower tiered team in this conference when the situation is right but in this case, not only are the points inflated but the situation is not right. UCF has accomplished a ton the past two years, but being priced like this on the road as a two-loss team is a brand new badge of honor and might be taking the respect a bit too far.

Tulsa is 0-5 in the conference and 2-7 overall. On paper that looks bad but allow us to break it down. Tulsa opened the year with a loss to then #18 Michigan St. They would go on to lose to Oklahoma St, SMU, Navy, Cincinnati, Memphis and Tulane. There is not a bad loss among all of them. Cinci, SMU, Navy, Oklahoma St and Memphis are all ranked in the top-25 right now. Tulsa lost to SMU by six and outgained them. They lost to Cincinnati by 11 and also outgained the Bearcats. The Golden Hurricane lost to Memphis by one lousy point and also outgained the Tigers. In this results oriented world, Tulsa looks like a dreg at 2-7 overall and 0-5 in the conference but not all 2-7 teams are created equal. The Tulsa Golden Hurricane and the best 2-7 team in the country and one of the best ever. They can compete at a high level and believe it or not, they can actually win this game outright if a bounce or two goes its way. Grab these inflated points and we’ll see you at the cashier’s window when the day is done.
