UTAH ST -1 +100 over Boise St

9:00 PM EST. We were on the Aggies on Tuesday on the road against Fresno St and unfortunately we ripped up that ticket. However, in the spirit of “sticking with it,” we are going to come right back on Utah State here. The reason is simple. We liked the Aggies two days ago as an undervalued favorite and they lost again (that’s three in a row if you are keeping track). Much of what we said about the Aggies still holds true today. Their Strength of Schedule (SOS) has seen an uptick to 51st in the nation, while Boise State’s SOS ranks 160th. Utah State’s résumé is impressive (Colorado State, BYU, St. Mary’s, Iowa, Oklahoma, Richmond and now Fresno St). The Aggies led by 10 at halftime last time out against the Bulldogs but a very poor shooting performance in the second half was their downfall.

In a stark contrast to the Aggies recent run, the Broncos are on a 10 game winning streak. That is going to turn some heads in a market that values wins over all else. During this stretch of success, the Broncos have been a pooch just twice. This will be the third time and it comes with their stock trading at a season high. In its last game, the Broncos beat Air force 62-56, but had to shoot the lights out (48.7%) and forced 20 turnovers just to win by that modest margin. The Broncos bring a 4-0 record in conference play to match the Aggies’ 1-4 record, which only furthers the Broncs curb appeal.

We are going to trust that coach Ryan Odom is going to make the tweaks the Aggies need to get the job done here at home. That Utah State is favored (again) all things considered tells us all we need to know. Sometimes you just have to play the number and this one is screaming out at us.
