MOREHEAD ST -12 over UT Martin

4:00 PM EST. Yeah, it’s nice to bet a game and watch it and it’s also nice to watch the power conferences battle it out against one another but among the 357 Division I schools, the value can be found in some of these under the radar games. In this case, Tennessee Martin is getting way too much credit. Tennessee Martin is 3-8 overall. KenPom has them ranked 346th out of 357 teams and they have achieved all of that after playing the 278th ranked strength of schedule.

Morehead State is just 10-6 overall but what that record does not reveal is that it has played the 18th ranked strength of schedule in the country. That’s 260 positions higher than UT Martin. KenPom has Morehead State ranked 204th in the country, which is 142 positions higher than UT Martin. So why are the Eagles spotting such a beatable price here? Well, for one, the Eagles dummied the oddsmakers with two early non-conference rollovers at Kentucky and at Ohio State, losing by 36 and 33 points, respectively. Morehead began to right the ship however when Wright State transfer Skyelar Potter became more acclimated with Preston Spradlin’s system. Tack on freshman phenom Johni Broome, a rookie big playing wise beyond his years, and the Eagles have officially plugged key gaps in their rotation. A 25.3% team turnover rate is a noticeable eyesore but that figure is partially inflated by two bouts against press-happy Eastern Kentucky. Spradlin is still tinkering with his backcourt rotations, but the Eagles are bound to keep climbing, especially when they start to connect from long distance. You might be wise to play this one two ways...Morehead State -7 in the first half and Morehead State -12 for the full game. Both are strong and both offer value.
