NORTHEASTERN -8½ -110 over Drexel

7:00 PM EST. Northeastern is led by legendary coach Bill Coen, who was expected to be in charge of one of the better mid-majors this season, but that is not how it has played out. The Huskies are just 10-9 overall and 4-3 in Colonial Conference play. Perhaps most disappointingly, Northeastern is just 3-6 on its home court. While the losses are not ideal, the Huskies have played in four straight one-possession ball games and they lost three of them. Northeastern beat Charleston on the road two games ago, 79-76, which is a quality win, as the Cougars are the class of the CAA. Because the Huskies are meddling in the middle of the table, they might look like a hard team to spot points with, but that thinking is flawed and provides us with this opportunity.

On the surface, this is going to look like Drexel is taking back way too many points here after getting off to its best start in CAA play since 2011-12 at 5-2. Dragons guard Cam Wynter was named the Colonial's player of the week after averaging over 23 points per game and 4.5 assists, as his team won back-to-back games by double digits against Elon (63-41) and William & Mary (84-57). That was the Tribes' first defeat in conference play after starting 6-0 and the Dragons whacked them and are now just a game back of the Conference lead. That creates a potential letdown spot here against a Northeastern team that has not lived up to the hype, as many predicted in the preseason that the Huskies would contend with Charleston for tops in the conference. If you took those preseason projections and put them in a blender, you would have the Colonial standings after four weeks of play. The Dragons were not expected to contend, but because they are overachieving, we get to fade them at a reduced price. Northeastern is underachieving, thus presenting up with the perfect "buy low, sell high" situation.
