LSU is a ranked team coming off a win and cover over Alabama on Saturday to win its eighth road game in conference this season and yet they opened as the pooch in this game against a team looking up at it in the standings. When we saw this line, we thought, "what the hell?" The Tigers have won three straight and eight of their last 10 including an 82-80 overtime win over Tennessee on February 23 that has LSU in control of its destiny in the SEC, as that was the only meeting and the tiebreaker between the two schools. A win tonight and another against Vanderbilt on Saturday would give the Tigers their first regular-season SEC title in a decade, but that task may be easier said than done.

Florida is considered a bubble team and so its loss to an underachieving Georgia side at home on Saturday had to sting. We had the Dawgs on Saturday, citing it as a very vulnerable spot for the Gators. We’ll now switch gears in teams but not in value. The Gators are 17-12, but they have two opportunities against its ranked conference brothers to make their case for an at-large bid, as these Gators handed LSU a loss in Baton Rouge. That result may have the market thinking the Tigers will be out for revenge today, but that is a tired and played out angle that the talking heads eat up because it's easy fodder. In reality, Florida is much better team than the pundits would have you believe and the goods under the hood prove it. The Gators are ranked 29th on KenPom, which makes it's far closer to the Top-25 than to the bubble. The Gators played a non-conference schedule that ranks 65 spots higher than LSU, but that gap in perception to reality serves us well here because they are more than capable of going shot-for-shot with the Tigers. Strip away the records and rankings and the Gators just might be the better team. Florida was not ready on Saturday and paid a hefty price. They’ll be ready here.
