Casey Kenny (Inside the distance) +300 over Nathaniel Wood

Posted at 7:45 AM EST.

1:10 PM EST. Back on October 3, just over three weeks ago, Casey Kenny was a -390 favorite over Heili Alateng and was dominant in running his UFC record to 5-1. Alateng was a big underdog for a reason. He’s an unorthodox fighter that had no answers for Kenny’s relentless pursuit and leg kicks. For three rounds Kenny beat up Alateng in a one-sided fight but he could not finish him. Every fighter wants to finish and yet, here was Casey Kenny doing a number on a big underdog and he could not get the underdog out of there. We don’t care. It shows that Kenny is a patient fighter that was not going to take any chances. Trust us when we tell you that Alateng, who is tough as shoe leather, was a punching and kicking bag for Kenny the entire fight. Alateng may need two years to recover from the damage. Prior to beating Alateng, Kenny was a big fav again on May 30th, this time, a -290 favorite when he finished off Louis Smolka with a One-Arm Guillotine Choke in the very first round. Kenny’s biggest win in the UFC came against Ray Borg back in March of 2019. He lost to  Merab Dvalishvili back in Feb of this year but Dvalishvili is a beast.

The last time we saw Nathaniel Wood was back on July 25th when he was a -410 favorite against John Castañeda in which Wood won by a unanimous decision. Round 1 of that fight was very close. Both fighters had bruised kneecaps and thighs from the back and forth kicking. Castañeda was the aggressor by constantly moving forward and although things balanced out by round three, Wood had much more difficulty with his big underdog than Casey Kenny did with his.

We have not seen the best of Casey Kenny yet. He is clearly the superior fighter with a relentless attack that Nathaniel Wood will not be able to withstand for 15 minutes. Kenny to win is probably a great bet but from what we have seen from both fighters, Kenny to win inside the distance looks like the best value, as we expect him to finish wood more than we expect it to go the distance. Casey Kenny will emerge victorious.
