HAMILTON -2 -110 over Toronto

1:30 PM EST. For the life of us, we cannot wrap our heads around this number. Seriously, how the fuck can the Tiger-Cats, preseason Grey Cup favorites, be spotting such a short price against a Toronto side that has already had to switch starting quarterbacks due to poor play?

For Hamilton, it has been 659 days since the stands at Tim Horton's Field were full of fans and while there will be a limit of 15000 today, it should give the home side a boost to see their supporters for the first time in nearly two years. The last time Hamilton played a home game was the 2019 East Division Final, where they blasted Edmonton 36-16, punching their ticket to the Grey Cup. A lot has happened since then, including the Tiger-Cats early-season struggles here in 2021. At 1-2, Hamilton has not come close to fulfilling their lofty preseason expectations, which appears to have their stock trading much lower than it should be.

Further fuelling the drive down in price on the Ticats will be the absence of Jeremiah Masoli, as Dane Evans will make his second straight start. Do we give a shit that Masoli is out? We do not. Hamilton will welcome back defensive linemen Ja-Gared Davis and Dylan Wynn, which figures to boost the pass rush, not to mention instilling confidence in the entire unit.

Toronto is a talented squad that has looked sloppy, undisciplined and very beatable all season long. They have committed more penalties than any team in the league by a wide margin and now you can add the human element to the refs making their calls in front of a rabid fan base in Hamilton on Labour Day. Talk about bargains and spotting deflated points and one need not look further than this one. We get the superior side at a grossly deflated cost.
