7:30 PM EST. The Roughriders appeared to be in midseason form after an opening week victory over the defending Gray Cup champion Argonauts last Saturday night in Regina. That win by a Western team over an East Division opponent was the theme of Week 1, as they went a perfect 3-0, which will do nothing to dispel the notion that the West Division is vastly superior to their Eastern counterparts. There is also a perception in the market that Saskatchewan has an advantage here after playing last week, while Ottawa sat at home, but the Roughies have no tape of the Redblacks in action. Saskatchewan also got banged up in that game against Toronto with the most significant injury coming to defensive back Nick Marshall, who will miss the next six weeks with an injured finger. Marshall was a big contributor for the Roughriders in Week 1, as he took a Ricky Ray pass to the house for a pick-six. Replacing Marshall in the secondary will be star wide receiver, Duron Carter. Why head coach Chris Jones insists on moving arguably the team's best pass-catching option to play defense is beyond us, but it totally changes the makeup of this team. Carter did spend entire practices with the defense during training camp, but that's not the same as getting thousands of reps during live game situations. Carter might think he's Superman, but he's also a defensive liability that a stud quarterback like Trevor Harris should be able to exploit.

The Redblacks are in first place in the East Division by way of merely twiddling their thumbs and not losing in Week 1. The biggest priority for the Redblacks heading into 2018 will be keeping Harris healthy and upright. The extra rest likely did Harris some good after he was banged up in Ottawa's first preseason game against Montreal three weeks ago. The Redblacks will also be looking for running back William Powell to pick up where he left off last season. In 12 games, Powell had 1,026 rushing yards. On the defensive end, Ottawa features a new look with newcomers Rico Murray, Loucheiz Purifoy, Josh Johnson and Kyries Hebert all expected to make a difference. Defensive end A.C. Leonard has also come over from the Roughriders, where he was a huge contributor over the last two seasons. Leonard will surely be chomping at the bit to get a piece of his former team. Ottawa also has a distinct advantage in that they were able to see what this Saskatchewan team was all about in Week 1.

Looking for over and under-reactions will be a key criterion for us here in Week 2. The Roughies had many in the market ripping up their tickets in Week 1, as the action poured in on the Argos all day. This game opened with Saskatchewan taking back three points and they must have looked pretty appealing, as the market pounced and now that number has come down and continues to trend in the Roughriders direction. Ottawa is not being given the respect it deserves on its home field and it is surely undervalued after the East Division's poor showing last week. However, the box scores don't tell the whole story, as the Tiger-Cats absolutely could have won outright in Calgary as the biggest pooches of Week 1. You are also often going to pay a premium to back Saskatchewan, especially when its stock is high because they are by far the most popular team in the CFL and it's not close. With that in mind, we're looking to take advantage of this market inefficiency and will enthusiastically swallow these deflated points with a very capable home side.
