6:30 PM EST. Market overreaction and under-reactions happen all the time and me must always be on the lookout for them. Such is the case with the Demon Deacons who scored a mere 34 points and lost 70-34 to Virginia this past Wednesday. As a result of that, Wake is a dog at home against a Panthers team that has two wins in eight road games this season. Wake is indeed near the bottom of the ACC but in that powerful conference there really is a fine line between winning and losing. Wake can compete with Pitt on their home court on their worst day. The Deacs are coming off three games in succession against Virginia twice and Notre Dame once. In the first game against Virginia as a 19-point dog, the Deacs lost by a single point. They swept N.C. State this year, they defeated Miami and they took Syracuse to OT at the Carrier Dome. The Deacs are a great rebounding team and should get plenty of second looks here against the poor rebounding of the Panthers.

Pitt does have some nice wins this year but they also have some disturbing losses as well. The Panthers are one of those teams in which a lot of things have to go right for them to win on the road. They often get dominated on the boards and they often go cold from the field for long stretches, especially when playing on the road. Pittsburgh may have some upside but just like Wake, they must be graded as average-at-best within the ACC. We'd be concerned with Wake if its struggles were not competitive but that hasn't been the case. The Deacs have competed very well and won't be outclassed in this spot, which makes the plus money at home worth a serious look.
