12:00 PM EST. The hopes and dreams of this Danish team rest on the foot of one man, Christian Eriksen. The powerful Hotspur midfielder has led his countrymen on an incredible run, as his side has not lost in 18 months. Included in that stretch are six wins and three draws over the final nine games of qualifying. A 4-0 win over Poland, a fellow World Cup finalist and a 5-1 steamrolling of Ireland have increased Denmark's market appeal and surely raised its already high expectations. Eriksen scored 11 goals during qualifying, including a hat-trick against the Irish, but the Danes lost both games in which King Christian failed to find the back of the net. Make no mistake, they might be called the Danish Dynamite, but this is a one-man show and if Eriksen struggles in any way, it's going to be a long day at the office. Denmark has much more to lose here after missing this tournament in 2014 and exiting early on from the group stage in 2010.

Peru is back on the world's stage for the first time since 1982. The Peruvians have shown up in mass in Russia with nearly 35,000 supporters, taking over the relatively sleeping city of Saransk, where it will play its qualifying games. The road to Russia was a bumpy one for Peru, as it won just four of its first 12 qualifying games. A four-decade World Cup drought seemed inevitable for the Incas, but they stormed back and went 4-0-4 in their final eight qualifying games, including a 2-0 clean sheet over New Zealand to clinch the coveted golden ticket. It wasn't just adversity on the pitch that Peru had to overcome, as they were without top striker Paulo Guerrero in that game against the Kiwis, as he was suspended for testing positive for a banned substance. The Flamengo star was set to miss his first World Cup because of that transgression but his penalty was reduced and Guerrero will start for the Incas. His addition will be welcomed, as he scored five times during Wolrd Cup qualifying. Points are going to be at a premium, as one of these two teams are expected to finish behind France (who knocked off the Aussies earlier today), but it is Peru that is playing with house money and worth getting behind.
